This is a tough one, isn’t it? Sometimes just moving can be tough. Some of us just like to find a comfy, stable place. When we find it we settle in and stay put; loving the same routines, following the same plans. Moving and changing is hard. We mull and sometimes over think everything. Reminding ourselves daily of our intentions is necessary so that we do not become ineffective, waste opportunities and stifle life and growth around us.
Then there are those who seem to be always positioned at “get set”, ready to move on some opportunity or the other. Pockets and purses filled with new ideas, new ventures. Staying put too long is unsettling and our good ideas are sometimes left half done as we speed off to the next thing if we don’t see progress quickly. We leave those behind us exhausted from our constant whirlwind of motion and our inability to see things through. We have to be intentional too, not letting impulse and the lack of proper planning and the need to give time time, rule and sometimes ruin our lives.
I’m no expert, but it seems that making the right moves require a marriage of sorts. For the overthinker needs to find a way to become a person of instinct and forward movement and the person of impulse needs to develop the characteristics of thoughtfulness, proper planning, and the discipline to see things through.
My prayer for 2019 is that we see ourselves clearly. Become fully aware of strengths and weaknesses, and either work to develop, or partner with those whose strengths complement our weaknesses.
